Are you joining us for another short downtown walk and sketch crawl this year in Durham? The NCASLA Emerging Professionals Committee is excited to host a sketch crawl event with AIA Triangle EP/YAF collaboration. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 10:30 am-1:00 pm.
We will visit the Carolina Theatre of Durham, Durham Central Park, and Five Points Plaza to sketch. Come and share your drawings with us.
Happy World Landscape Architecture Month! I bet if we polled people on what they thought the most important day in the month of April is, the majority would say ‘Tax Day’, April 15. I also bet that if you asked a landscape architect the same question, they may try to convince you that last week of April is where it’s at! Annually, we celebrate Frederick Law Olmsted’s (FLO) birthday on April 26 and Arbor Day (typically celebrated on the last Friday of the month) so it’s a week filled with design, history, trees, and the environment! Does it get any better?
This April 26, we not only get to celebrate FLO’s birthday, but it’s the big 2-0-0! Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about finding a cake large enough to accommodate 200 candles, but I do hope you all are able to do something to celebrate. Not that we need another reason to bookmark April 26, but it is also the last day to register with the Advanced Rate for our conference in Wilmington. So, if there is a day to remember this month, it’s not that your taxes are due on April 15, it’s April 26!
Planning for the 2022 NCASLA Conference on Confluence is in full swing! In addition to a captivating Keynote, we have many exciting field sessions and presentations planned for you. We are expecting a great turnout of attendees and exhibitors so don't miss out on this great opportunity for learning, networking, and fellowship.
The 2022 marks the return of in-person awards recognition across many industries and Landscape Architecture is no exception. The 2022 NCASLA Conference Committee is excited to share that we will be honoring the NCASLA awards winners during the Awards Gala that will be held the evening of Friday, May 20th. We are excited to see you dressed to impress in your classiest cocktail attire!

It is starting to feel a bit like spring! I hope you all have seen the announcements for the NCASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture, Conference on Confluence, Thursday May 19 – Saturday May 21st in Wilmington, NC. There are also efforts under way to get ready for World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM) and the 200-year celebration of Frederick Law Olmsted’s (FLO’s) birthday. We will be discussing various ways to celebrate WLAM as a Chapter at our monthly meeting on March 10.
ASLA has launched the Women of Color Licensure Advancement Program to support women of color in their pursuit of landscape architecture licensure and increase racial and gender diversity within the profession.
In its inaugural year, the program will provide 10 women of color with a two-year, personalized experience that includes up to $3,500 to cover the cost of sections of the Landscape Architectural Registration Exam (LARE), along with exam preparation courses, resources, and mentorship from a licensed landscape architect.

NCASLA EPC presents the 2nd LARE Roundtable Conversation on Friday, March 18, 2022, from 12:00-1:00 pm.
This year's roundtable has four new panelists, Drake Fowler, ASLA, PLA, Lora Greco, ASLA, PLA, Andrew Harrell, ASLA, and Maggie Watts, ASLA, PLA. The panelists will share their experiences on the LARE exams, the importance of licensure in their career path, and great study tips.
