President’s Update: June 2022
by Hollie Colony, PLA, ASLA
I hope you all had a great May and are gearing up for a great summer! I’m not sure I’m entirely ready for the North Carolina heat and humidity, but I’ll just keep my sunscreen handy and my water bottle full!
May was a big month for me. Not only did I get to see my parents, but I had the opportunity to finally meet many of you in person at our conference! Thank you to all our Sponsors, Exhibitors, and to each of you who attended. We can plan an event out in detail, but without your participation it can’t be a success. We would love to hear your feedback if you haven’t provided it already, please feel free to let us know your thoughts via this link .
Sometimes after planning a big event there can be a bit of downtime, but fortunately, our Emerging Professionals Committee and Licensure and State Advocacy Committee have been hard at work planning opportunities for us to gather and share our love for our profession in June. Our Emerging Professionals Committee will be hosting their Summer Sketch Crawl in Durham on June 18. This event will also be co-hosted with AIA Triangle EP/YAF, so it will be a great opportunity for you to mingle with an allied profession! I have no doubt we will see some great sketches from the day.
Whether you didn’t get the chance to join us in person in Wilmington, you loved seeing everyone in person and want to hang out again, OR you really want the opportunity to meet your legislators and discuss how awesome and impactful landscape architecture is, I hope you’ll join us in Raleigh on June 22 for State Advocacy Day! Check out our website to register for one or both events and we look forward to seeing you this month!
