President's Update: September 2022

President’s Update: September 2022

by Hollie Colony, PLA, ASLA

I cannot believe that summer is about over. I hope you all been able to enjoy yours. The Executive Committee did not meet in September, and our next meeting will be October 13. Even though we did not meet as a group, we have still been working on a few items.

  • Membership Survey Update

  • SERC 2023

  • Virtual Advocacy Day

  • Park(ing) Day

Membership Survey Update

Through the member survey, we heard a lot of feedback requesting more events. Based on this feedback, we thought it was best to ask for more specific information regarding proposed events. Please check out the summary, as well as the link to this short-follow up survey in this month’s newsletter. It will be incredibly helpful to us as we move forward with planning future event!

SERC 2023

We have also been coordinating with Georgia and South Carolina in planning the Southeast Regional Conference, and things are really starting to take shape. We have been working on a theme and schedule. We look forward to announcing the theme, sending out a Call for Presentations, as well as sharing some exciting opportunities for the students to be involved.

Virtual Advocacy Day

ASLA Virtual Advocacy Day will be September 29 and each state is allowed to have three members attend. We are excited to continue our momentum from the Raleigh event and bring that excitement and energy to the national level!

Park(ing) Day

This month there will be Park(ing) Day events occurring throughout the state. If you are around the NC State campus, students will be participating on September 30. I hope those in the Greenville area were able to top by and see the pop-up park that was out on Friday September 16.

Summer Block Party

I really enjoyed learning about all the companies during the Instagram Summer Block Party this month. It was a lot of fun seeing everyone be creative in showcasing their teams, projects, and offices. It was a great way to ‘meet’ you all!
