FLO Hike Registration Closes June 24

FLO Hike Registration Closes June 24

We’re excited about the upcoming FLO Hike at the North Carolina Arboretum on June 26! Hurry, registration closes on June 24 at 5:00 PM ET.

If you’re still deciding, here are answers to a few frequently asked questions about this event.

Is the hike difficult?

The two guided hikes will have frequent stops and last up to 1.5 hours each. The Carolina Mountain Trail is 1.2 miles long and listed as "moderate." But, over the course of 1.5 hours, “non-athletes” can enjoy it, barring they are not using a walker, wheelchair, or crutches.

What is accessibility like?

There is a gravel road down to Willow Pond that is open to anyone requiring assistance for a wheelchair or other type of support to drive closer to the site. Once there, the site is fully accessible. Additionally, there is access to the back of the Baker Visitor Center and a gently sloping, winding trail leading to the site; however there are a couple of steps down from that trail to the terraced area.

The Carolina Mountain Trail is easily accessible for a slow ramble. It is not negotiable for someone in a wheelchair and may pose some concern for someone on a walker or using crutches as there are protruding roots in a number of areas.

The Formal Gardens are completely accessible without steps through the use of the Bonsai Exhibition Garden at the top end and the Baker building. To access the Formal Gardens, drop off in the circle and enter through the first floor. Then elevator to the second floor and enter the gardens from there.

Can I bring my friends and family?

Yes! Non-industry friends and family members are welcome and can attend for free. However, they must be registered so we can expect them and are able to accommodate them.

Are CEUs available for this event?

Attendees will be able to earn up to 3 CEUs (approval pending).
