We Need You For Virtual Advocacy Week
by Michael Askin, PLA, ASLA
It is busier than ever right now and work is abundant throughout the state, but what is it that enables landscape architects to do this work? Licensure!
Do you want to share your knowledge of Landscape architecture with your state representative and Senator?
This year due to the pandemic, the Licensure and State Advocacy Committee has decided to go virtual in our advocacy efforts. We invite you to participate during the first week of May. NCASLA will provide you with literature that highlight points relative to the main advocacy issues that are important to ASLA National.
These areas include Licensure, Transportation, Stormwater Management, Parks and recreation, Climate Change/Resiliency.
If you are willing to talk to your representative, NCASLA will help you in getting ready for your virtual visit. NCASLA will provide a training seminar the last week of April to help you prepare for your individual advocacy effort. We will provide an information package that highlights the work we do and provides examples of projects for your specific section of the state chapter.
Unfortunately, it is difficult for NCASLA to set appointments with your legislator on your behalf. That is something we are asking you to do. We will provide you with your legislative contacts once you have committed to advocate. We encourage those that are willing to advocate with a peer to do so, that helps the conversation flow and relationships grow.
If you are willing to advocate, please fill in this form that we can help you with the advocacy efforts.
