President’s Update: February 2021
by Courtney Landoll, PLA, LEED AP
January was a busy month! In case you missed it, the Call for Sessions for the 2021 NCASLA Virtual Conference, Resilient Places + Spaces + Practice was released and closes February 26. Please note the dates of the conference are set for May 19 - 20 and the conference will offer a full 10 PDH. We are currently seeking Sponsors and Exhibitors for this Conference. You will not want to miss it!
Additionally, the Call for Entries for the NCASLA Professional and Student Awards was released and closes on March 8th. An Awards Event is planned for August, to honor the recipients.
On January 14th, we met with the Board of Landscape Architects to continue to facilitate discussions around shared interests, especially continuing education.
The Executive Committee also approved two excellent Fellows’ nominee applications. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will be able to announce their successful award later this year. We also officially formalized the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. If you are interested in serving on this committee or others, check out our many opportunities under the Volunteer Section of the NCASLA website.
Also, on January 14th the Continuing Education and Events Committee held the webinar “Design and Collaboration in a Work from Home World.” If you have an idea for a webinar you would like us to consider, please contact NCASLA. All ideas are welcome!
On January 21st, the Emerging Professionals Committee held an LARE Roundtable Webinar. In case you missed it, another Roundtable will be held later in the year.
During the remainder of February and March, the Executive Committee will continue to review position descriptions in anticipation of releasing the Call for Nominations for the Executive Committee in April and checking back on our Strategic Plan Initiatives, such as Landscape Architecture in Schools and getting those programs up and running.
