President’s Update: April 2021
by Courtney Landoll, PLA, LEED AP
Welcome to World Landscape Architecture Month! I hope you are enjoying our Instagram Takeover as much as I am. We have some really great firms sharing their work all month so I hope you’re following along. NCASLA took over ASLA’s Instagram page on April 12, so head on over to see what we posted there!
The month of March has had our Chapter extremely busy putting not only the Instagram Takeover into motion (thanks to our Communications Committee), but several other items.
Our Conference Committee has opened registration and lined up our speakers. This year we have two out-of-state keynotes you won’t want to miss—Sara Zewde, of Zewde Studio, will present on Ecologies of Memory and Nette Compton, of the Trust for Public Land, will present on Fostering Inclusive Communities. Register today!
Our Legislative Affairs and State Advocacy Committee is preparing for a Virtual Advocacy Week.
Our Emerging Professionals Committee is preparing an LARE Review for all sections of the exam to occur in June and also an in-person sketch crawl in June.
We are preparing a hike/CEU event in late June at the North Carolina Arboretum.
We released the Call for Nominations for Executive Committee Service.
We received over 30 awards nominations and are preparing the jury for review of those nominations.
We continue to coordinate on possibilities for the Southeast Regional Conference in 2022.
All of this would not be possible without dedicated members, volunteers, and sponsors. Thank you for continued support of NCASLA.
