Greenville will join the global PARK(ing) Day movement to temporarily transform spaces for cars into places for people on Friday, September 16 from 10am – 2pm. Two parking spaces on East Fifth Street between Reade and Cotanche Streets will become a pop-up mini-park featuring a hammock for relaxing, Giant Jenga and Connect Four games, and other activities. There will be discount cards to Blackbeard Coffee Roasters, and sidewalk sales at Backdoor Skate Shop and other businesses. We welcome the public to grab coffee or lunch from a local business, shop, and stop by and enjoy a little urban retreat!
Uptown Greenville’s PARKing Day is being organized by partners and staff from: American Society of Landscape Architects, MHAworks, The East Group, City of Greenville Recreation & Parks Department, Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Greenville, NC), Uptown Greenville, and East Carolina University Student Planners Action Network (ECU SPAN).
